How we Operate
How do we go about it?
The survey is a flexible instrument which can be tailored to match the needs of your organisation
but to get the benefit of cross-matching your organisation to other survey results, a consistent
format is necessary.
The first stage would be tailoring of the survey questions with you and agreement on the necessary
sample size and stratification (e.g. by dept, location, age, etc.).
We then agree the method of delivery and collection of the data,
via questionnaires or on-line. A number of different
processes may be used for employees to complete the
survey such as all-postal, focus groups, part of an internal training course, through
team briefings or with time off granted during working hours. The more the process is controlled the higher the response
rate but the control must not breach confidentiality or the reliability of the results will be
tainted.
After the forms are returned, they are entered into our analysis system and examined by our expert
consultants in organisational change. The data is interpreted and presented back to you in a form
which enables you to take action on the results and communicate them to employees. Further analysis is
possible at the customer’s request; for example you may wish a particular group’s results broken down
further or compared with earlier findings or other organisations’ (who must remain individually
anonymous) results.
We then will normally work with you to define an action plan based on the results.
What about confidentiality?
Employees are assured of confidentiality through the form itself and ideally through briefings as
well. In our report, where the survey results indicate only a few individuals in any sub-group
category, these are merged in the report to protect individuals who may be identified from small
sub-groups. All forms are returned to a central point for collection and transfer or, if preferred,
direct to us. Alternatively a web-based approach may be used.
